Teams

Teams shall be composed of at least one player and up to no more than 5 players. Team signups will open at 8:00am EST on Wednesday October, 21st and will close at 3:00pm EST on Friday October 23rd.

Registrants will have the option to select their fellow team members, and their team may be filled with other registrants who are seeking to join a team.

The team, or portion thereof, is not required to participate in all of the segments of the Cybersecurity Challenge. However, it is strongly recommended that the teams participate in all segments of the 2020 SHPE Cybersecurity Challenge.

Substitutions for another eligible player are allowed up to 30 minutes before the event starts.
Conduct

Teams must compete without any outside assistance from other individuals that are not registered for the SHPE 2020 Cybersecurity Challenge.
- It is highly encouraged that teams use resources and tools found online to help answer the challenges!

Members of one team shall not attempt to access another team’s information, chats, discussion boards, Zoom Rooms, or other forms of communication.
- Competitors can be a member of only one team during the SHPE 2020 Cybersecurity Competition.

Swearing, disrespectful behavior towards fellow registrants, judges or event coordinators, any type of harassment, willful violence, and use of illegal substances will not be tolerated at any point during the Cybersecurity Challenge.
Judges and event coordinators are allowed to disqualify any teams (or portions thereof) based on evidence or reasonable suspicion that a team or team member is not following the rules and conduct guidelines.
Scoring System
Teams will be scored based on how they perform on the Capture the Flag competition, which will run continously beginning after the opening ceremony and ending right before the closing ceremony. The three teams with the highest combined score will receive the monetary awards.

Capture The Flag (CTF)

The Capture the Flag competition will run continuously and without interruption starting at 11:45am EST (8:00am PST) until the closing ceremony at 7:30pm EST (4:30pm PST). Although teams are encouraged to try to answer as many questions possible, it is also encouraged take breaks after participating for extended periods of time.
Workshops/Webinar/Social - Max points per team - 1,000 (total of 2 events)

*Attendance will be taken at a random time during the workshop and all members will be given a 1 minute to confirm their attendance.
